How important is it to have already done the recommended reading?

I've applied for psychology and haven't done any of the reading as i didn't know what any of it was and wasn't (still not) sure if I was going to uni. I was just wondering how important it is to do and if I will be really far behind having not done it. I did do psychology at A-Level.
