Tips For a First Year Student to get a 2.1/1st

Hi guys I'm starting university very soon and wanted to get any tips you would give me like how many hours to study, what not to do and so on in university so I stay on track for a 2.1/1st in my degree.

I know that first year doesn't count to your final classification, but I think getting into the right mind set from the beginning of the year will be helpful in the following years.

A brief background of my degree; I'll be studying audiology.
According to a 2nd year student, I'll be going to lectures 2 times a week, each lecture will be from 8-6.

Exams will be every 6 weeks and finish by January. From January I will be on a 2.5 month placement and do a few assignments/coursework to be finished by May.

It doesn't look like they have any past papers for the subject, well at least not on there websites student portal.
