out of interest why are you staying in halls for next year and not going private sector?
why am i not staying in halls and not going private sector?

first of all, halls are expensive! we are currently paying about £130/week for not exactly the greatest service, meal times are fixed, the food isn't that great etc it has it's disadvantages, although some very nice advantages as well.also the price is set to go up next year,i'm classed as international (for fees) so i need to minimize how much i spend.

i'm not going private sector because i don't want the hassle.it'd be fun etc,but what happens when you fall out with your housemates?what if they're not house trained to your liking? at the end of first term,i was seriously reconsidering my friendship with people who were potential housemates.people change,so i'm thankful i didn't get with them. and also i didn't want to lose touch with the campus feeling,by that i mean,if i was living in lenton/beeston or wherever i would feel like i was missing out on the campusy-feeling.

plus at broadgate everything's sorted, you don't have to worry about bills,it's close to uni park, you can make your own food however bad/good it'll be etc

fair enough, theyre good reasons  why are you international, where do you come from?
born abroad, but not been in the country for 3 years prior to starting uni,so i have to pay international fees and i didn't want to take a gap year.

ah one of my friends at college now has lived in the UK for a while but just less than 3 years, shes not impressed at having to pay international fees, lol.

im really excited about going self catered, ive already got most of my stuff (ikea sale...couldnt help myself)
haha good good. i kept on repacking all my clothes and stuff.it's quite fun

I'm in Broadgate at the moment, and will be staying in next year as well. I've found it really good to be honest; it might be a bit harder to socialise but if you make the effort you can have plenty of social things to do. You meet people through your course and through societies as well as randomly around Broadgate, so it's not as if you're cut off.
Actually next year I'm going to be co-leading Broadgate Christian Union and President of the French & German society so if either of those appeal to you I can definitely recommend them, and if you've got any questions feel free to ask or PM me.
i'll be doing french (Hopefully) so i'll have to bug you :p:

Excellent - we should be having fairly regular socials to get to meet other linguists next year - also, the Linguist's Ball every May, and maybe some more of the creative events we had this year, like France vs. Germany Laserquest, French-themed meals out and trips to see plays/etc. (Very useful - seeing Mutter Courage live helped me pass German Literature!) The new exec are meeting this weekend so we'll be looking for some good ideas, and plenty of enthusiasm next year!
good good. hoepfully i can get on the course first and not find it too stressful

hey guys, actually, Karni dont do that many parties on BGP, instead, its the BPRA (Broadgate Park Residents Association), of which I am the President. Its basically our version of a JCR, and yes, interaction is a big issue, so I would reccommend a shared bathroom, but I can understand why some people dont fancy that.

Take a look at the BGP website, there's a forum there as well, so you can ask any questions you want and get replies from people that actually know the answers. Find it at http://www.broadgatepark.co.uk. If you do have any questions, post on the forum or email me, [email protected]
yup the broadgate karni isn't that great..i know i know...

I didnt say that, they still do wicked events, and pack out the bar when they do parties, they're just not the main social organising entity on BGP, thats all, now pipe down!
ok ^o)

The only issue with shared bathroom flats is that the rooms aren't as nice and the kitchens are (sometimes a lot) smaller. For example, the kitchen in some of the flats in Coppers is the same cosy size as my Standard Ensuite bedroom and supposed to be for 6 people! You genuinely can't have more than 2 people cook/eat at a time which I imagine would be mega frustrating!
