Find the dimensions of the cuboid when given the volume

I've done this question before but now doing it again, i totally forgot how to :frown:

so a suitcase with dimension 55,40,20 has a volume of 44000cm^3 but now the volume is halved to 22000cm^3 what are the dimensions,

it has to be similar/proportioned like the original dimensions. it's only 4 marks on the paper and it's giving me a headache
If you stretch the sides of a shape by a scale factor s then the volume increases by a factor of s^3....
Conversely if you increase the volume by a factor of v then the sides are stretched by a scale factor of the cube root of v.

cubed root of (44000/22000) = 0.8

0.8 * 55, 40 and 20 = 44, 32 and 16

To double check, just multiply them:
44*32*16=22528
Which is close enough as I rounded 0.8
