HISTORY- Post-war consensus

I am really confused as to what a post-war consensus is... we've been asked to write an essay answering 'to what extent was there consensus by 1951?'

Any advice would be greatly appreciated...

We're doing the same - the Post-War Consensus was a common "consensus" among the top parties at the time to focus on the welfare state, an economy focused around a mixture of industries and similar major policies. Kind of agreement at the very top of Labour and Conversative as to the best way to go ahead. Lasted from 1945-79 till Thatcher came in charge according to most historians.
