Barclays Assessment Centre (Internship)

Hey,

I have the first round assessment centre for Barclays summer internship on Thursday and was just wondering whether anyone has already been to one and could provide some information on what to expect. I have been told via e-mail that it involves an interview, written exercise and group exercise. Any extra information would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Ooooh, I did that last year. It's pretty much standard for an assessment centre: one on one interview about yourself, written exercise where they give you lots of info and you have to come up with a reasoned opinion, and a group exercise of the typical "perform a task in a group" type thing. They also gave us a presentation exercise that was quite tough.

The one thing to remember is that their summer programme (at least the one relating to the business leaders grad programme) is about getting people with the top competancies for senior management. So they're looking for personal competancies, not people who've swatted up on finance (though it never hurts) and such.
