I chose Manchester because I really like the feel of the city. It's important to take into account whether you'd enjoy living in the city while studying at the uni.

I went to the open day on Saturday. Manchester was always a place I wanted to apply for (even in the GCSE days of PPE aspirations) because it always seemed like a place where things were going on. I go to the city a lot for gigs and I love the place.

Curry Mile:dance:

No seriously, I loved how the ChemEng Departement looked like a refiner and the city was pretty nice, not too big, yet small enough to know key places

Did anyone not think that the fallowfield accommodation shown on the open day was super expensive for what it was? Eek, tempted to stay at home because I only live about 30 minutes away by train, but I don't want miss out on the social side in halls.

I totally agree! The student accommodation wasn't the best that I've seen from visiting other unis - but it's all meant to be part of the experience isn't it

True but £138 seems so expensibe when it isnt even on campus or anything when i could stay at home for free in my nice warm bed

I know what you mean! You'll just have to hope that your parents don't make you pay rent! :woo:

If you're able to afford it, I'd recommend living in halls for at least the first year. That way you won't miss out on the social side of things but you can still choose to commute from home in subsequent years if you decide it's not worth it.
