I am thinking of doing an International Business with Spanish Degree at NTU and at the open day they mentioned that there are limited spaces for this course. What could I do to make myself stand out ?

Hi nadami,

I will link you down below to our page on how to write a personal statement, which has some handy tips for writing a personal statement on there:

How to write a personal statement

Personally, I think the best way to stand out in your personal statement is to really show your passion and interest for International Business and Spanish. If you have any proof of your passion (i.e. taken a Spanish class/had work experience with an international business) this could also help make your personal statement stand out.

Also I would suggest that you make sure everything you say is backed up, and don't exaggerate! As it is such a popular course, there may be an interview and the personal statement is often referred to in interviews, you don't want to have to say something wasn't true on your personal statement in an interview!

I hope this helps, and let me know if you have any more questions!

Thanks,

Ellen

Hi georginasplanet,

Oooh fingers crossed you will hear from all your uni choices soon!

Applications usually take around 2-4 weeks to process after you have submitted your application. However please take into consideration this is a really busy time for admissions and some applications may take longer to process (for example if they need to invite you to an interview). So don't panic if you haven't heard from us after four weeks!

Good luck!

Thanks,

Ellen
Hi, I'm hoping to apply for the business course and was wondering how many places they have?
Thank you.

Hi Princessh,

We offer a lot of business courses, so overall the business school have a lot of places available for students looking to study a business degree. Some of our courses are more competitive than others (for example the business management course with 1 year in company is very competitive!). I will link you down below to the different business courses we offer:

Our Business Courses

Is there any particular business course that you are interested in? As a business student myself, some of the courses I will be able to tell you about, so if you have any questions please let me know!

I hope this helps and let me know if you have any more questions!

Thanks,

Ellen

Hi Princessh,

The BA hons Business course does not require you to attend an interview. So the admissions team will be looking at your personal statement and the entry requirements of the course when looking at your application.

I hope this helps and let me know if you have any more questions!

Thanks,

Ellen

Ok, thank you.
Hey! I was wondering where BA Sociology is taught in terms of the uni sites and if I can get any information on readings that I might be interested in doing before I start the course? I know some universities have this but I couldn't find anything on the website.

Hi tiagotheweirdo,

Sociology is a part of our School of Social Sciences and is taught on our city site. I will link you to more information about our city site down below:

City Site

Regarding reading lists, our reading lists for our courses aren't released until after results day, which is when you will be invited to use our NOW portal.

I hope this helps and let me know if you have any more questions!

Hi letlovebleed77,

Congratulations on your offer! As a business student I can't give you specifics on how long you spend in uni at seminars and lectures as a psychology student. However there is a really useful website where you can look at statistics for specific courses, which I'll link you down below to:

Psychology Unistats

It mentions how much you are assessed by coursework, as well as the time spent going to seminars/lectures. You can also compare it to the other universities you have chosen as well.

I hope this helps, and let me know if you have any more questions!

Thanks,

Ellen
I have applied for two courses at NTU Business Law and Business management and Accounting and Finance. I'm thinking about putting NTU as my firm choice, but I'm not sure on which course. I want to own my own business eventually. Which course would be best?

Thanks

Hi Danielleeeeeee,

Both courses are very different, with neither course sharing any modules. The business law course is part of the law school and very law focused. It does have a few modules throughout the three years that have elements of business (such as Legal and Business Structures, Business Employment Law and Company Law) however within this course there is no modules looking at business in general.

Business management and accounting and finance is part of the business school. The first year is very general, looking at all elements of business (such as marketing, economics, accounting and finance, managing and organising etc.) After the first year it becomes more specialised towards accounting and finance. However there are no modules related to law in this course.

So, do you have a preference over business or law? If you are interested in opening up your own business, I would suggest that the business management and accounting and finance would give you a more general overview of how a business operates, however if you enjoy law more I would go for the business law course.

I hope this helps and let me know if you have any more questions!

Thanks,

Ellen

Hi
Just wanted to ask if I should worry about entry requirements of the course as a mature student ? I've got quite a lot of experience and tried to write strong personal statment, so is there a chance that if exam results will not be enough I can still get an offer ?

Hi zuzgie,

Do you mind me asking which course(s) you have applied for? In general, our admissions team look at applications case by case and experience/a good personal statement will be definitely taken into account when looking at your application.

It also depends on the course you have applied to, as some courses are more competitive than others. This means some courses are more lenient than others when it comes to entry requirements.

I hope this helps and let me know if you have any more questions!

Thanks,

Hi zuzgie,

I have had a little chat with the admissions team and as your a mature student (21 and above) you will be considered even if you don't meet the entry requirements. They will be looking at your life/working experience, so make sure that you have referenced your experience in your personal statement, and you have a strong reference!

I hope this helps and let me know if you have any more questions! :h:

Hi Guys,

My name is Ellen, I'm 20 years old, I study Business Management and Marketing and I am currently on my placement year as a Marketing Assistant at Nottingham Trent University.

If any of you are thinking/considering on going to NTU and have any questions on the university life, any of the three campuses, or Nottingham city in general, please let me know here and I will try my hardest to answer!

I am usually on TSR between 9 am - 5 pm Monday - Thursday, and 9 am - 4.30 pm on Friday, so If you have any questions on the weekends, I will try answer them Monday morning!

Hope to hear from you all soon!

Thanks,

Ellen

Hi Ellen,
I have a question about accommodation. I have received a conditional offer from NTU and its my firm choice. I know that the booking system goes live on 16th March. Ideally I would like to be in either Byron or Gill Street South- do you suggest a certain time to book the accommodation as I know Byron and Gill street sell out really quickly.

thanks
