When someone says that the height is 4cm within the mean.. what does that tell you about the possible range of heights?

That P(171<X<179). But its the one person thats tripping me up.
Don't worry, you don't need to set up a Binomial distribution or anything like that.
If you pick one random point in the distribution question what's the probability that it will fall in the limits that you've correctly identified?
(If you quote people they will be able to see that you've replied).

as Sean says you need to find the area of a strip between 171 and 179 cm.
