I don't want to become a neurologist

I am in year 13 now and I have to choose my university course. I really liked knowing what happened in the body especially the brain in certain behaviors, like for example what happens to the brain when we are in love and things like that, why do we behave obsessively? so I wanted to choose neuroscience. However most degrees and students who want to study neuroscience just talk about the disease like Alzheimer,.I am confused now I don't know if the course is right for me.

Maybe you would prefer psychology? I hear there is a biological element to it.

You may as well recommend him to declare a state of unemployment if he were to pick that degree. If he enjoys biology a lot and wants to stand a chance, maybe Bioinformatics is a better path to chase, only for the math/computing element.

Sounds like you'd prefer neuropsychology, which is mainly about the biological reasons for behaviour. Rather than neurodegenerative disorders, it probably has more focus on mental illness. There are many courses with similar names but different content, and not all neuroscience degrees just talk about disease like Alzheimer's.

Also, neurologists are medically trained doctors, specialising in the brain. You would need a medical degree and specialisation for that.

You do realise that neurology is a branch of medicine so you couldn't be one anyway?
Don't become a neurologist then
To become a neurologist, you need to study Medicine at University and become a doctor. It sounds like you're more interested in the function of the brain, so neuroscience would be the degree for you. Or if you feel like being unemployed after graduation, Psychology is an option. (JOKE)

Hippysnake takes no responsibility if whoever reads this gets butthurt. He can recommend several creams you may use if you are, Anusol would be a good start.

I wanted to do neuropsychology at first but they are just a few degrees on it, it is hard to find it.

I don't like psychology at a degree, it is too general and vast, I don't think I can cope with it. I don't think my parents will allow it

Most undergrad degrees are designed to be general and vast and those types of degrees are good options if you're unsure of your interests which it sounds like you are. Have a look at course structures to work out what interests you. You've been given a few good options here.
