Yes, but it's a common argument made when discussing this subject (one of my friend's favourites in fact). I would also like to add that we shouldn't abolish comprehensive schools, as people should have the choice. Both work side by side perfectly well in Germany.


The Northern Irish school system is pretty similar actually. Some go to grammar schools at 11. Others go into the Dickson plan, where everyone goes into streams at a comprehensive type school for three years, then transfers into a grammar or secondary school.
