Similar courses to Social Sciences BSC (Bath)

Hi all,
I'm strongly considering applying to Bath to study Social Sciences Bsc, the thing I most like about the course is studying economics, a little bit of politics, international development and potentially a language. Furthermore the grade requirements are more achievable for me, based on AS results and predicted grades. (ABB)

Other places that do Social Sciences are York, Cardiff, but they don't seem to offer any economics based units, instead focusing more on sociology and psychology which I'd prefer not to focus on.

Are there any courses similar to the Bath Social Sciences course, without applying for Economics with Politics?(which has much higher grade requirements A*AA at top places)

I can't help but feel I will struggle with writing the personal statement, and applying to 5 places unless the course is very similar

Thanks
International Development courses often incorporate politics and economics, and some also have optional discovery modules in which you could study languages. I'm in a kind of similar position as you I think. I did do 2 languages and got ABCC at AS and B in general studies, with predicted grades of either ABB or AAB at A2. I also really like elements of politics, economics and international development.
I think I will apply for (after much decision making and mind changing):
Sussex- International Development AAB
Leeds- International Development ABB
East Anglia - International Development ABB
Edinburgh- Sustainable Development AAB/ABB
Bath- International Development with Economics although I'm still not entirely sure about this one AAB

Sorry I'm ranting on about myself but maybe this helps give you an idea of what you can do. Look closely into the course modules as you may find they're more open than you think

Thanks very much, gives me something else to look for. Appreciate that, I'm in the same boat with ABB/AAB predicted.
Have you visited Bath yet? I loved it when I looked around, and the economics department is very good.
Good luck!
Look also at :

Birkbeck (Uni of London) - Economic and Social Policy

Bangor - Social Policy and Economics

Essex - Economic Analysis for Public Policy

Warwick - Economic Studies and Global Sustainable Development

Bath Spa - Global Development and Sustainability

Also look at 'area studies' courses - Asian Studies, American Studies, Middle Eastern Studies etc - will include Social Science/Economics aspects of those areas, and usually a Year Abroad.
Hi

Have you had a look at BA in Quantitative Social Sciences at The University of Sheffield? It's an interdisciplinary course that specialises in teaching the latest quantitative research methods, which is a big element in Economics. You'll also get to choose between three study strands which have been tailored to complement the quantatitive core study strand, they are:

- Politics, Sociology and Criminology
- Georgraphy, Urban Studies and Planning and Landscape
- Management studies

There is also an opportunity to study a language with our Lanaguage For All programme and the free module choice.

You can find out more about the course structure and module choices here:
http://smi.dept.shef.ac.uk/quantitative/

We have an open day this Saturday where you can find out more information : www.sheffield.ac.uk/smi/study-with-us/open-day-booking

I hope this helps
