Uni experience at Kings?

Im starting to dread choosing Kings as my firm, because i wanted the whole uni experience, where you live in halls, and you have all your friends closeby, everyone is in the same boat, when its time for a lecture its just a 5minute walk across the campus...

this clearly isnt going to be the case at Kings is it? lol
which halls would get me the closest to achieving this 'dream'?
Stamford Street probably. It's not a campus uni, but London offers a lot more to you and the people you meet. I'm having a great uni experience here!

i thought that too, but i went to see my friends room there and the apartment system was very off-putting, it was all narrow, dark and secluded and i didnt see anywhere for socialising, and the room was extremely small!!:frown:

Same here...i couldnt wait but then i went to the open day and the reality of being at kings seems to be very different...i expected it to be spread out- but not so much.

You can socialise in your kitchens. But the great thing about being in central london is that there are so many other places to socialise. Who wants to stay in halls all the time?! Not all Kings halls are apartment based, so you could look into others.

Why not go for halls then? If I choose King's I think I'll go for one of the intercollegiate halls. They're closer than King's halls, and I like the idea of meeting people from other UoL colleges, plus I really want a hall environment too.

I feel exactly the same lilmizzflirtie ...

Don't get me wrong .. I'm still bouncing off the walls with the thought that I will be at King's in september .. but I really wanted to stay in halls ... but I really really do not want catered accommodation and as my campus is waterloo ... SSA is my next best option. I'm just really worried that I wont experience the true 'social' side of uni within my living arrangements that I'm after?

I am right, arent I? There is definitely no halls that are not catered?:frown:
yeah i think you are right, most of the halls i have looked at are catered. and they dont have en-suite!!

i dont know what to do...

C'mon the food can't be that bad, and you rarely have to share a bathroom with more than about 5 people anyway. Most of my friends who are already in university say that they have no problems sharing and they've never had to queue. So I'm sure it'll be fine.

And if you really are set on self catered then I don't think you'll miss out on the social side of it. You'll still meet people within your flat, in your course, through various clubs and societies as well as by just going out and about! Well I hope so at least, so long as you're a friendly person I don't think you'll have too much trouble making friends.
I'm seriously considering intercollegiate halls...the rooms are bigger..you only have to share a shower with one other person, you meet a wide range of UofL students BUT its about 30 mins including walking the bus and walking to the uni.
That's a bummer I know, but it's still closer than King's halls. Personally I really want the social aspect of it and I would rather sacrifice proximity and self catered for it. Besides you're probably going to have to end up living even further out in your 2nd and 3rd years!

Sharing a bathroom with one person is only one intercollegiate.. the rest you share a bathroom with about 10 people i think, maybe half a floor.. can't really remember, i've only visited people in those halls.

And seriously, being in flats hasn't effected my social life at all! But it depends on the person.
Aaahh man ... I really don't know wat to do about accommodation! Everytime I think I'm close to a decision ... something changes my mind agen.

I really wish they had at least one hall that was self-catered. I really am tempted to go for halls and I'm not worried about the quality of the food ... its just I know I will never eat at the 'correct' times so it will all be a waste of money! I barely ever eat breakfast and I've heard dinner is served at around 6pm - I'm usually just getting back from work then so probably wont b hungary at that time and end up going out and buying sumthing lol. HELP! xx

Hampstead is self catered.

I feel a City University has a lot more to offer. London isn't what someone would call a bad place for socialising.
