I worked as a bank HCA so I could work as and when I was able but some of my friends had regular weekend jobs and manged fine, although it's tough when you're on placement you get used to it.

I did consider the bank HCA, but by being in Cardiff Uni with one placement and home being up in North Wales I wouldn't be that reliable to be honest for any type of part time job, might consider it after the first year.

Thank you for all of this, it's been incredibly helpful! Luckily I've already done my homework on the Francis report (and VBR, HEE), and more recently done a mock interview with one of my teachers:smile: I'll research more in to modules and think about what most I'm looking forward to - thanks again for your help!

No problem, if you really want to impress you could look up advanced roles to talk about if you get the 'and where do you see yourself in 5/10 years time' question! There are lots of specialist roles available

Thank you again! Strangely enough I was practicing that with dad and he said something very similar XD I've been searching up Radiotherapy specialist jobs and roles, but I can't find an actual list (other than assistant practitioner, practitioner, consultant.. ) Can you help me out here?

Where abouts you from? Thank you! Good luck to you with your application and interviews! Decided on a firm yet?

I'm about 2 and a half hours drive away !:P Thank you! I'm pretty confident that my firm will be St Georges, but not quite sure on my insurance (as all the grades are exactly the same), How about you?

Of course

IGRT is a big thing and most departments will have an imaging radiographer.
Patient review (basically a side effects specialist)
Pre-treatment (could lead to radiographer consultancy post - palliative treatment prescribing)
Treatment planning
Some departments have specialist rads for treatment areas (eg paeds, head and neck, urology, gynae)
Research (implementing trials and recruiting patients to them)

Just a few examples for you to check out.

Oh not too bad then! Well I'm from North Wales near Bangor, quite far from Cardiff but that's where I wanted to go most!

Hi I've tried to look into the Francis report, but I'm unsure of which parts I should be focusing on for an interview. What kind of things do you think I should know about it? Thanks!

Just a basic overview of why it was undertaken will suffice and some examples of what stemmed from it (ie NMC introduced the 6 C's and trusts and uni's have introduced values based recruitment).

VBR = Evaluation of Values Based Recruitment in the NHS
HEE= Health Education England
They're not super important or compulsory to know, just some extra reading! I had my interview at Sheffield Hallam yesterday and I was so nervous for it - but it went so well! So you got this! where is your interview? My next one is at Hertfordshire in 3 days time:smile:

You're welcome  Ahh okay, yeah it went very well! they asked me the questions I expected, and we watched a video we had to comment on:smile: I have to say though, as soon as you walk in the room you are instantly eye'd up by your competition which made me laugh XD
Ahh brilliant! I think that honestly the most important thing is to keep relaxed - bring a bottle of water with you to interview and take sips whenever your voice is wavering (gives you time to breathe and think your answer though too!) Best of luck!

Hatfield station is about a 30minutes walk from de hav campus, however I think the 602 bus goes to the campus from the station. Good luck with your interview! I'm studying at Hertfordshire
