Why are Southamptons entry requirements for Polticis so low?

Politics at any other russel group/top 20 Uni asks for AAA-AAB, but Southampton asks for ABB with a lowered offer to those doing a level politics

Whats the catch?
ABB is a pretty standard offer across the Russel Group universities, actually

Birmingham
Political Science BA
ABB

Cardiff (joint degree with Institut d'études politiques de Bordeaux)
Politics BSc
ABB

Edinburgh
Politics MA
ABB

Glasgow
Politics MA
BBB

Liverpool
Politics BA
ABB

Newcastle
Politics BA
ABB

QMUL
Politics BA
ABB

Queen's Belfast
Politics BA
ABB
Southampton's Soc Sci courses are small but cosy. The grade requirement (which isn't dramatically low) is to attract good, interesting students who actually want to do this course rather than picking it for the 'grades required'.
