The death of the liberal education

This is a long blog post and I am unable to sum it up to any credible standard.

It's based on the US but the same can easily be said for Britain. Arts & humanities is becoming ever more irrelevant.
Arts and Humanities were relevant...?
Well he's specifically talking about bogus reasons being given for shoehorning compulsory arts modules into professional and technical degrees which isn't really occurring the same in the UK system - we have large numbers of students taking single honours arts degrees, the author states in the comments that at his uni they're fighting to keep art subjects as majors.
Well quite a few humanities departments are being shut down in the UK due to lack of students and funding. And as Danial states they are stuck in a catch 22 where they only way it can be vaulable is a sort of counter culture critique but the unis wouldnt do it as it risks funding. (The very tope ones are not so desperate for money so have more freedom)
