Aber Accommodation - Studio or En-Suite?

Hi, I'm planning to go to Aber and am very interested to get a place in a Fferm Pengalis accommodation, but can't decide between an en-suite with shared kitchen or a studio apartment... I like to cook and bake, however my father recommended that I go for the en-suite so I still get to meet people and make friends...
Ideas?

I'm having this dilemma too! like yourself I like to cook and bake so a kitchen to myself would be great! However I do worry that if going in a studio apartment will make finding friends and meeting new people abit harder :/ but then again I do enjoy my own space!

Hey, and thanks for the reply ^^

Have you got offers from Aber too?
I'm swaying more towards the en-suite because of the meeting people thing :/ I'm kinda super paranoid about people leaving a horrible mess :P
yes, I've been accepted for equine with veterinary Bioscience )
haha, you're very much like me! - I like a tidy and organised kitchen. I may just have to claim the kitchen as mine and in return cook for everybody

Congratulations  I got an offer for Politics/Human Geography, Politics/Law and Geography (I really wanted to go to Aber :P)

Thats a pretty good idea, and you can potentially eat for free and make a profit if you charge people for the food you make  get a nice little business going

I'm definitely going for an en-suite room, i'm thinking of going for seafront accommodation though. While Fferm penglais looks great, i don't think it's worth the extra £50 a week.

The seafront looks lovely, and I'm thinking of putting it as my second accommodation, or third behind both Fferm Penglais. I prefer Fferm though because of the kitchen layout and spacious-ness

What are you applying for/ got offers for?

International politics with strategic studies, i've made it my firm  because it's my firm, i'll get an accommadation grant which definitely makes fferm more appealing. What about you? (I'm on my phone so I can't see if you've already said sorry)

I know the struggles, I use my phone too.
I've applied three times and got all three offers: Politics/human geography, politics/law and Geography.
That accommodation grant is very helpful, but I would've put it as my first choice anyway. I wonder if they put students studying similar stuff together?

I'm not sure, it would be good to share a flat with people of similar interests. It doesn't concern me too much, my biggest worry is having messy flatmates.

Yeah, I've got the same paranoia. I spent one week with my brother and I almost killed him because of the mess he kept on leaving :/
I currently live in an En-Suite Fferm Penglais room, and I'd say that is a good idea. The kitchens are huge with two cookers in them so there is plenty of room to bake in there; plus I'm sure the food is a great way to make friends with your lfatmates if you a worried about that! :P

Also, I can't really tell if they put similar subjects together; I'm the only one doing English and Politics, but there are two Astrophysics students so it may or may not be random aha

Thanks for the reply and the help

On the open day I had a look around one of the en-suites and they look really nice, and sharing the kitchen with 5 others would be OK, and 7 others possible.

My main worry is getting in other people way or having an un-hygenic and not clean flat mate :P

I have just received an email from Aber saying that I have my first choice of the studio flats in penglais, which I'm thrilled about. However, I am also worried that I'll struggle to meet people? Someone told me that the flats are basically on their own so now im worried..

Hey, I got the same email too  I presume you got the merit award also?

I got an en-suite and am also quite shy and reserved so I'm worried I won't meet people but I'm sure if you go to societies you'll be fine. If not send me a message and we can try and socialise together

Yeah I did! Yeah I want to join the netball society, I'm just worried I'll have no one for freshers 😩 Do you have the studio flat too?

No, I went for the en-suite instead to try and meet some people, and hopefully get along.

Worst comes to wort you go once and don't go back, and I'm sure you'll easily find people on your course, but if you don't I'll happily keep you company if you want
I went for the studio flats in Fferm Penglias, with the en-suites as my second choice, for reasons.

Yeah, I was told by the guide on the day that the studios were more for post grads and mature students, but I've already been given conformation of an En-Suite Fferm Penglais, which is good  and about making friends, I'm sure it'll be easier than expected.
Well I've got my studio in Fferm Penglais confirmed now, so I guess that's where I'm going. Just got to wait for funding paperwork to be sorted and I'm good to go.
