Formal warning for having an accident

Is it right for an employer to give a formal warning if an employee has a serious accident outside work and gets taken to hospital? If that employee was unable to call their boss because they were unconscious, could the boss say I don't care someone should have informed me.

Short answer - no!

Is it a private company? As this is the type of nonsense that happens when the boss has no one to answer to.

Dispute it via the right channels, but ultimately, start job hunting and get outta there.
