behind at uni!

Since the beginning of my course I have been struggling with the workload. I am 5 weeks in and find it hard to prioritise different modules and am finding Chinese so hard that I am investing too much time and forgetting to study for my other subjects! This week I have felt really ill and have been unable to work, now I feel so hopeless because I will not be able to catch up with a whole week of work. I regret going to lectures because I was too ill to concentrate and would have been better off in bed! I have an exam in a week and a half and two graded essay deadlines. I doubt my ability to do well and cannot see myself passing university!

My biggest problem is probably time management and organisation, its not like I lack intelligence for uni!
What do I do?

Believe me, you are doing quite well for 1st year! I know of plenty of cases of 1st years who rock up to the revision lecture at the end of a course having not been all term due to a 9am slot etc! There will be plenty on your course positively bricking it right now!

Does this exam actually count towards you final classification? (remember you will need 40% in year 1 to get through though!) If 'past papers' exist they might give you an idea of the level/content required for your revision!

You sound dedicated and I'm sure you will smash it out of the park TBH!

no, the grades don't count. But I need to be able to get more than 40%, because if I can't get a 2:1 this year then I'm not going to manage it in the years to come! I'm not sure I will smash my exams, I can't even find the time to complete the compulsory homework!
there are no past papers, but a description of what the test will contain. Its 40% of a 20 credit module so it is kind of important!

I'd say I'm relatively dedicated but I lack the technique to prioritorise and to work efficiently. It annoying because all my flat mates seem to have more time to spare, even the med student! and it is starting to show that they all have a tight relationship with one another which I don't have with them because Im putting in the hours studying instead of socialising!
its first year, i know you have to pass but thats it and it usually doesnt count. i think that you should maybe take a day or two off and clear and clean your head and room etc, and get back in the groove.
