Hey! LSE are taking their sweet time, got an email today saying that there won't be a response until after christmas, so I should add 2 weeks onto the 8 week response period... sigh! This is the only uni I'm waiting for!

Thank you

UCL for European Social and Political Studies (So I can specialise in anthropology), Manchester (Politics and anthro), Durham (Politics and anthro) and King's (European Studies)

UCL is definitely going to be my firm, so I'm hoping that LSE can be my insurance if they like me enough! fingers crossed!

Good choices, I thought UCL's Anthropology course looked great but I didn't apply in the end. Surprised you'd firm them over LSE, but then again I don't know anything about the European Social and Political Studies course. Is that the one you need to do the TSA for?

It is indeed! ESPS just seems like such an exciting opportunity with the chance to learn a language, go to that country and do a broad module in politics/history/philosophy etc. I also love the UCL anthropology department, got a really good feeling from the times I was there!

And well, if LSE accept me and I miss the grades for ESPS then I'm still going to a brilliant uni! :h:

Specific degree: BSc Social Anthropology
British grades: I'm from Canada and I still don't know what any of these mean except that asterisks are good
Where else you applied: Edinburgh, SOAS, Southampton, and UCL (offers on all of the above)
Current status: (not applied, applied, application acknowledged, 2 week, 8 week, offer, rejection): Offer as of about a week ago

Now I'm kind of panicky because I've always planned to go to UCL but I didn't realize how excellent LSE's social anthro program allegedly is and they are cheap enough that I may not have to take a gap year to pay for it and I'm horrified by the anecdotes I've heard about how LSE is full of careerists that aren't motivated by love for their subject and make you feel like **** about yourself. If we could get someone who actually takes anthro there to speak to the atmosphere of the department and their peers (this might be all econ student complaints) that'd be incredible.

Also, out of curiosity--why do most people go for BA than BSc? I kind of applied to LSE without the expectation of acceptance so I didn't research regarding which would be better but intuitively science felt right for a number of reasons.
