Offer from a Uni i haven't applied to?

I applied for a deferred enter to Cardiff University last year and just missed my grades in August 2015. I am currently in the process of redoing my personal statement and reapplying for a different course at different universities, however, today I got an email confirming a place at Cardiff? Has anyone else had a similar thing happen to them? Any feedback would be amazing
