What's shed ko me ?

id get a beating
HAAHA I defo would
Not really, for me the step up from AS to A2 is nothing, if anything it feels like for History and English at least it's easier. I found the step up from GCSE to AS massive though!
A2 was an awful year for me in terms of workload and motivation. On reflection I wish I spent more time having fun than studying.

Five things you should know:

- Everyone will go through that 'Oh my god, University of [name] has made me an offer, let's tell everyone!" phase. If you don't get an offer, don't worry. Offers don't really mean a certain university wants you, it just means you're being considered - subject to your actual grades. Don't haunt the internet checking if people have got offers yet, do something productive/fun instead.

- Get whatever grade predictions your school/sixth form has given you out of your head. They are not definite and will either make you stressed or lazy. Don't have a fixed target, have a comfortable grade range to work on instead.

- Have an excellent insurance choice, prioritise this! If you had to spend ages choosing between your first and insurance choice, and there's a nice grade difference between them, then you've done the right thing.

- You will change your mind back and forth about your course/uni and life in general. Ignore this as it's natural.

- Don't waste all your valuable time revising/studying. Go out, socialise, learn to drive, enjoy your final year, be 18 etc.

In other words, the whole year is hyped up to be the most crucial time in your life... it is not. Teachers will pressure you into following that mentality, but ignore them. Treat it like any other year and enjoy it.
Good luck guys! I'm taking AS but A2 will be soon :/...

No one I know has ever said this is meant to be the most crucial time in your life lol... That's obviously university as you're in the last 3-4 years of education, potentially ever for most people.

Also your fourth point might be might right about people worrying, but it's misleading information you're giving out. If one is constantly changing their mind about the course they want to do than the advice given by sensible people is to take a year out and decide, or more time if required getting experience. So yes, you should worry. It's all about the course and you need to be commited doing something you're good at for 3-4 years

Quick question, but have you completed Year 13 yet?

University isn't as crucial or intense in the sense that the assessment period is much more spread out. The atmosphere here is different, the focus is to get a degree and there's little pressure being applied by teaching staff. There's a lot of continous assessment, winter and summer exams, more opportunities to resit etc. Whereas A Levels tend to cram exams into month a year and that's it, leading people to assume it's crucial. The media, UCAS, and teachers often overexaggerate this and my tip is to ignore what they're saying and treat it like any other year.

And yes, you're right to extent that people who have constant doubts over everything need to take a year out. However, I'm more relating to the fact that everyone I knew in Year 13 had those "should I go to uni/should I study X" doubts, more out of anxiety than anything else. Ignore them and wait until after you've done your exams.
I'm not feeling too bad right now... but come Christmas and I'll be ****ting bricks worrying about everything. Gotta resit 2 AS maths papers as well as A2.
MEEEEEEEEE!

I've missed about 80% of school due to illness...I am SO FAR BEHIND I WANT TO CRY AND BURY MY HEAD UNDER THE SAND!!!!

I feel more stressed than I ever have.

awh :frown:
it's okay we'll try and get through this together :console:
I really feel for people doing A2 subjects with masses of prior knowledge involved such as Chemistry, Physics and Maths. Doing 3 essay based exams (Literature,Classics and geography) is a lot easier to get through without the same degree of revision (with the slight exception of geography, due to the 903092342 million case studies you are expected to know).

ME! I'm so so stressed over Psychology... I went to my tutor (who's also my Psychology teacher) in tears the other day... :frown: I'm predicted AAB (got ABC at AS but was 7UMS total off AAB) and need ABB for my dream University.

Never gonna happen :frown: Might as well just give up.

no no no! I'm sure they'll take you in if you just miss the grades! is that course super competitive? It's okay you're predicted that for a reason! also it's better to aim high and miss the mark than aim low and hit it so just aim for them A*s and you'll deffo end up with As atleast :3

XD, if you like chemistry why not do pure chem or chem engineering

idek man - i don't have maths though, and i've only got a C in AS physics :/

I got CDDE in my first AS year <-------- started from the bottom
then switched subjects completely
then I ended up with A*AA(C) in A2
then went to a Russell group uni and have come out of my first year with a 2:1 <-------- now we're 'eh

omg you are life :O you are my inspiration
i wish i could start from the bottom :frown: i have to work the BBC up to AAA but thanks for making it look less impossible

Original post by toonervoustotalk
I got BCCD at AS
Predicted BBC at A2
And all the unis for my course require BBB-AAB minimum entry requirements
:cry2: i dont think i will get any offers
And i tried asking my teachers if they can change my predicted grades from Bs to As as i have been doing well in recent tests like getting high Bs in maths exam (only 3 marks off an A:angry: yet my teacher wouldnt change it)
And i got 88% in my most recent chem exam
And the annoying thing is that i know people who got worst grades than me in AS and they have been predicted higher than me like how on earth is that fair.

I am applying to pharmacy and pharmacology

Sorry for the mini rant

Awh you are me omg
i got BBCC and i'm predicted BBB (wanted to apply for pharmacy too)
i know someone who got CCDU and is predicted BBC
i'm happy for her though but obv i'm a bit like wtf bruh -_-

so just applying after a gap year :3

I have to get A*AA. So far the extent of my revision has been (finally) sorting through my piles and piles of notes that I should have kept in order from the start, and sticking up one solitary poster on my bedroom wall about glycolysis.

I guess you could say it's going well.

*screams internally*

haha i have that one glycolysis poster up there too X'D omg that's too funny
yeah we'll be fine *dies*

it's okay though, there's always different ways

I can just about keep up with the work for this year but all these monstrous courseworks (40 pages for bio and like 70 for chem) literally have me in tears AND I need to go over this years content AND revise for AS retakes.

Those 3As look like a myth :frown:

Looks like those days of doing **** all has caught up to me

Posted from TSR Mobile

holy **** that's a lot of coursework!
what examboards do you even do?!?!?!
get to it mayn!
omg **** i just remembered i have AS retakes too :O :O :O

Yep, I'm completely ****ting it this year.
I need to get A*AA and I have an interview next week with Queen Mary for Law...which I'm not ready for...and I have to sit the LNAT (law national admissions test) in a few weeks time. I haven't even revised properly for the LNAT, idk how to.
I'm honestly so terrified, I was trying my hardest not to get attached to UCL, but after going to their summer school, I really want to study Law at UCL. If I **** up my LNAT, I can kiss goodbye to that dream.
....and here I am on TSR instead of revising lololol😊😊😊

haha yupp TSR is legit an addiction now i need to stop O_O
oh god i hope it goes well :O
and i hope the test goes well too! try and start revising for it - aren't there practice ones up on the interwebs like for the UKCAT?
it's okay don't worry you can apply after a gap year  and strengthen your application too :3
you'll get there dw

yeah i had that feel for biology too and computing (minus the cwk) too :/
it's more interesting as well
and i'm a lucky ***** because i have a whole entire module in A2 in common with bio and chem = less revision

An A from a C? I'd so love that to happen! That's the problem, I have no idea how competitive the course is because it's only the second year that it's been running for entry :frown:

It's just Psychology that's the problem - if I could somehow get over my mental block with that I'd be absolutely fine.

I am obviously happy as well for him

yeah i'm doing chemistry, biology and computer science
- chemistry is more about concepts so that's alright (with exception to all that ****ty practical description and stupid chromatography)
- biology has a ****ing whole dictionary i need to memorise -_- and all the words sound the same! like hyperglycaemia and hypoglycaemia

ARE YOU TAKING THE PISS?! argh

and computer science is basically biology for computers ... again loads of words but at least it's only one theory paper

*i'm so dead*
