3 or 4 million?!?!?! For Healy! Come on. He has a very average (maybe less than average) goalscoring record and he's never played in the prem. Anyone with a brain will know not to overinflate the price purely due to his international record. It will probably stretch to a million with add ons, but if he goes to Fulham, they are going down next season anyway so we won't see the adds ons, a la the extra money from the Killer and Hulse deals that we don't get anymore

Re: The LUFC Society (League One's Finest)He does bring more than goals though. I wish he played for the Leeds like he did the irish and we might have stayed up.(Original post by Mellie)

Re: The LUFC Society (League One's Finest)I agree that we never really saw his full potential. Dunno if it's cos he prefers a bigger stage or that he just got off and a bad foot with Hoofwell...probably a bit of both. Shame but there's not alot we can do.(Original post by Leftite)

In better news, Mister Bates has knocked a good £120 off most season tickets!! I don't expect him to honour the casual ticket buyers with a price cut but it works out at around 16/17 quid a ticket so I wouldnt be surprised if there was a small rise in ST holders. -
Re: The LUFC Society (League One's Finest)
Yer Bates did well to slash the prices. I wish I lived north of Birmingham instead of South of Watford. But I'm still not sure we'll get more season tickets in L1 than in the CCC.
Kris Commons is out of contract apparently...he'd be a good buy but I reckon he'll move up a division. Looks like Beckford wants to go to Scunny permanently. -
Re: The LUFC Society (League One's Finest)It's not Beckford's choice though. He's contracted to us. I can't imagine Scunny will offer us much for him and we'd be crazy to let him go for a song.(Original post by AAJ1)

Re: The LUFC Society (League One's Finest)
I don't know if this has hit the proper news yet as my internets been dead for a few days, but the four players who have refused to defer there wages are: David Healy, Kevin Nicholls, Shaun Derry and Jonny Douglas.
Nicholls is off to Preston, in part exchange for a centre back, plus cash. Thought he couldn't bare to be apart from his beloved Luton eh? Judas. -

Re: The LUFC Society (League One's Finest)Just been looking at season ticket prices and it looks like it will be about £400 for me to sit in North Stand even though Im a student, whereas for students renewing their ticket its only £275 which is a rip of considering theyre hardly filling the ground. Only about £290 for a student to sit in family stand which isn't too bad though.

Re: The LUFC Society (League One's Finest)Hmmmmm, dont get me as one of these "chelsea out of leeds" people, because im more than happy to accept Wise as manager, as he is in no way to blame for our relegation and at least he has some passion. Whereas Bates imho, does not seem to care very much about the club or the fans. He spends most of his time in Monte Carlo. I can hardly see visiting Leyton Orient on a cold tuesday in December, can you?

To be honest, the fact that he doesn't really care for Leeds United is probably a good thing. Ridsdale was a fan and spent like a fan. We need to start acting like a business and Bates is the man to ensure that we do. Maybe he'll go to less games, who knows. He's still a footballing guy, so he will be around as often as he can. He won't have people running amuk in his absense and he'll be there to check things are running smoothly. The most important thing is that he takes care of the business side of things and of course, continue to write his constantly excellent programme notes
. He'll support Wisey as well, which is great.
What alot of people do not seem to understand is that Bates was our only real option. And as a shrewd businessman who also happens to know the football industry well, it's not like we have been lumbered with a bad chair.
It really annoys me that people wanted Morris over Bates. Morris who helped Kwasner make a hash of everything first time round! Morris who threatened to have Kelly kneecapped and Duberry framed for drug use! That's not the sort of wage restructuring we'd hope for. Plus, he'd be just as happy to knock the ground down and build houses. Maybe Bates isn't in it for the long long term but when he sells up we will be in good shape.
Revie was a pure dream. People saw the name and went crazy about it. I don't know what his intentions were, but he had no experience of chairing a football club and I don't know about you but having to wait three seasons for him to get used to the job doesn't sound like fun.
And we all know what Sheikhs and their invisable money are like.
Ken got a great deal (sure, alot of people are getting ripped off, including St Gemma's which is a real shame) and he'll sort us out. Him and Dennis will work together and contrary to popular belief, Bates is actually popular in the dressing room and had the respect of practically everyone at the club.
Now all this is sorted we can get on with our season, safe in the knowledge that while he may be a shyster, he's OUR shyster and we can honestly trust him to do a good job. He won't **** up his investment, believe me.Last edited by Mellie; 04-06-2007 at 11:10.
