A sufficient (but not necessary) condition is that there is no stationary point.
If you are more specific, I might be able to help further, regarding eliminating points of inflection.
Differentiate the equation and then make the differential equal to 0. If you get a quadratic where the discriminant is less than 0 or where x equals root a negative number (I. E. You cannot solve for x) then there is no point at which the gradient is zero and no stationary point (max or min)
