Lincoln applicants 2016

Is Lincoln Courts good? It doesn't seem to be as nice as other places but for the first year I'd rather go into halls so I can meet other freshers. What's everyone's opinions on it? And do most freshers go to Lincoln courts or is it just a mix amongst the on and off campus accommodation? Any advice would be greatly appreciated:smile:

I have not been there but I was immediately turned off by it's reasonably high prices and lack of en-suite (in the standard room). Plus, I'm going to assume it'll be very noisy outside on campus, I like my peace xD.

I'd also say (purely based on talking to fellow Lincoln applicants) that almost all (except me) are choosing Pavilions or the Gateway (all off-campus but very close to the Uni). I've seen a few say they're going to Lincoln Courts.

I think Lincoln Courts is good but yeah, bias. I'd say that if you're going to go anywhere choose either Courts or Pavs, they both have their good points and bad points. I think those two accommodations is where most freshers are anyway. I only know a few people that are at off campus ones.

Got an unconditional for animation! Anyone else?

Congratulations on getting into Lincoln. I went to the open day, and I was told by a couple of students that Lincoln do not do 2D or stop motion animation. Is that what you were told?

You've been told 50% wrong, the whole of the first year of the animation degree is 2D animation! They do loads of it throughout the course, and 3D too which is what I want to specialise in!

However, they dont do stop motion which wasnt an issue for me!

Thanks for that. The ambassadors on the open day did not seem to know a lot. I have an interview on 26th February. Any tips or advice?

Its pretty relaxed! Just smile and talk about why you want to study the course. Make sure your portfolio shows your strengths and you off, I took mainly 3D modelling as this is what ive done, but life drawing / character / environment designs / narrative work is great for 2D! Are you planning on firming it if you get an offer?

Not quite sure, I really do love stop motion but I have an interview for Derby and waiting on De Montfort, who both do 2D and stop motion. I mostly have animation and photography workwise, but I really do need to keep working on my drawing skills, which is what I am a bit worried about. Just wondering what level of drawing skills they are al looking for?

To be truthfully honest its not necessarily about your ability, its about your motivation to learn, my drawing isnt the best but what he said at my interview was that I come across as though I am willing to learn - I didnt do art at GCSE or anything if that helps!

I took loads of photography and got an offer based on that plus a few models, I didnt have any animations. Youll be fine, honestly!

Are you wanting to do 2D or 3D after university in terms of a job? :-)

At this point, 2D as I'm more interested in shorts and advertising. I also did graphics which I enjoyed.

Drawing is slightly more important for you then, just practice all the time and youll be fine :-)

Not seen anyone that's applied for photography. I'm waiting for my interview and I'm pretty sure it'll be my firm if I get an offer.

I got my offer for Pharmacy last month!

The Applicant Day isn't an interview - you'll be with other applicants, get to meet the head of the School of Pharmacy who talks about the structure of the MPharm course, and get a tour of the facilities at the Joseph Banks Labs.
That's really good are you looking to firm Lincoln? Does that mean they don't ask you any questions about pharmacy? Did it take long for you to hear you had an offer after attending the applicant day? Sorry for all the questions and thanks in advance!
