ISIL - To bomb or not to bomb?

We know that ISIL is bad and that they're killing innocent people . My question is , if it were possible to destroy ISIL by a single bomb , securing the future of the world in the process , would you be willing for innocent Syrian civilians to die as a result? I.e. would you bomb ISIL "for the greater good"?
Not bomb, airstrikes have aptly shown that they achieve absolutely nothing. Even if you kill all ISIS member, more will fill in to take their place, it's the ideology that's the cause and weeds must be pulled out by the roots.
Government can easily stop ISIL. Stop funding them. Plan and Simple.

Sorry but the airstrikes have worked. ISIS were overrunning the Iraqi and Kurdish positions. Since the airstrikes, this has largely come to a halt.

Air strikes have helped the Iraqi government, Iraqi Kurds and Syrian Kurds push back ISIS a good number of times. They absolutely do work when there is a capable ground force that can fight ISIS on the ground; this has been shown on numerous occasions.

Examples include but are not limited to Kobane, Tall Abyad, Hassakeh, Al Hawl, Sinjar, Mosul dam, Amerli, the area around Baghdad, Tikrit, etc. ISIS would be much stronger now if western countries hadn't decided to bomb them, that is beyond doubt.
