Can a 17 year old work at tesco? (nearly 18)

I have never gotten a job before and I don't really know where to start, but I was thinking about tesco. However I heard you have to be 18 years old, is this true?

Also since I have never worked (shameful, I know), would NCS and volunteering be enough?

Can anyone kind enough look at my CV please?
