Well to answer this there are two things to consider, one how much student finance do you believe you're going to get (i m really sorry to say but you d be the year where bursary is scrapped), as I would say only live in halls if you can afford it as you don't want to put yourself into financial issues if you can help it and two how close would you be to your placement area if you lived at home as travelling could make a big difference to your day on placement.
(Personally i live with my partner but if I didnt I d be living in a studio as halls are really not my thing)

I would say have a look at the nearest universities, attend open days to see if you like them. If that is the case, apply near home so you can commute. This is the route I went down  especially good for those who prefer being close to family. It can be stressful to live away from home if you haven't ever done so, or for some time for so long.

I would always say live in halls to get the full university experience, all the socialising, budgeting, cooking, meeting new people etc. However I wouldn't recommend it for nursing students, unless you live in halls just for nursing students maybe. I did a psychology degree which was 5 hours of lectures a week sometimes. I had a great time :-). However if you were a nursing student living in the next room from me it would have been very hard for you. Working full time shifts, plus studying and assignments when the rest of your hall mates are out drinking until 5 am? Will the halls even be open enough weeks of the year? My degree was basically October - may with breaks for Xmas , Easter and a huge one over summer. Nursing students don't get the same, nowhere near.
