Government and politics, or philosophy?

hi everyone
I'm interested in doing G&P or Philosophy A level. I find philosophy interesting and exciting but I don't know if I'm being a bit naive and once I start actually studying it, it will become a bit annoyingly navel-gazing and confusing. In contrast I reckon G&P will feel more 'real' an factual and less waffley. On the other hand something about it feels a bit grey.....?! But then I would really like to understand how government works..... So since I blatantly have no idea I'm hoping for some opinions from those who are doing the courses.

To give some context, I'm actually 35, work full time, already have a first degree (music history) and I'm just bored and need some brain stimulation. Anything I do would have to be distance learning, home study.

Thanks guys!
Government and Politics is a very interesting subject and isn't just hard facts, its also about evaluation and how factors can effect our government. Its my favourite A-Level!
