Extensions: Yay or Nay

Extensions: Yay or Nay

Firstly, Why is it that there's such a negative stereotype attached to extensions?Like it's chavy and only girls from TOWIE use them or something.

I don't think there's anything wrong with them especially if it makes the wearer happy and it's not like anyone would notice unless you tell them.

I have been thinking about getting ombre extensions because dying my actual hair would destroy it and I really like the ombre look.

Edit: If anyone knows how I can do this without having to dye my hair or use extensions that would be very appreciated.

So what do the people of tsr think?
I've added a poll as well.

Depends whether you get cheap ones that you can see the clip and look like rats tails hanging out the bottom of your head. Good quality ones that match the colour of your hair, yes, don't see why not
I think extensions are fine if they match your existing hair colour, however I'm not really a fan of them when they're a different colour to the rest of your hair. If you like how it looks though, then go for it

So you're not a fan of using them to achieve the ombre look? Or?
Thanks for the honest response by the way.

I started off with clip ins and fell in love. People were surprised when I told them they were extensions, saying how well I put them in, how perfectly they matched etc. I love the feeling of long hair whenever I wanted it, without the obvious draw backs.

A year later I got micro wefts put in, and I must say! These were my favourite. They could get a bit matted but were easy to manage and weren't too obvious. People also said how natural they looked.

Then I go micro rings and omg they were awful. Looked horrific and barely blended with my hair. :/

Overall though, I love extensions and ALWAYS have a pair for if I want them.

I'm just not a fan of having multiple hair colours in general

Yay someone who likes them! :woo:

How often do you use them? And do people find it weird when the length of your hair keeps changing?

And which are more natural looking in your opinion? Clip ins or micro wefts?
Sorry for all the questions

Ah okay
If they match your hair colour exactly then yes. Other wise no, you don't want to look like a chav.

I don't use them often anymore, I don't have time. I used to use them everyday, then every couple, and now mostly when I go out.

It is a bit weird that it changes a lot but I couldn't care less what people think lol. Plus, if they look good people barely notice  my sociology teacher just started at me for a few minutes, the first time he saw me with them, then proceeded to say "something about you looks different, but good different." so not everyone even notices lol

To be honest, they both look pretty natural, if done properly. However, in terms of long term, clips in look more natural cause of hair growth, after a few weeks/months you can obviously notice micro wefts. Plus clips in are super cheap in comparison. I paid £500+ for each micro weft section. Whereas, if I just need a quick fix of clip ins you can get em for like £50 lmao. But even decent ones are £200 ish, which is far cheaper.

Here, have some pictures:
(these are the days of clip ins.. I honestly don't have many pictures. Anyway my hair was about chin length at this time. This was about year 11 prom, so there was about a month in between when people last saw me. And no one questioned the large growth of my hair. (p.s I look so much like my dad it's embarrassing lol)

Just curious where you get your extensions from? I don't go out to the shops so I need some I can order online. I'm not sure I can do it though as I would find it hard to get the right blonde colour...

Pauls Hair and Beauty world is really good for first time buyers. I got my first set from there. When I need a quick fix, it's always Lush hair extensions (MASSIVE DISCLAIMER: These are not the best quality, DO NOT get from here for long term use. THEY WILL NOT LAST)

Oh, also always go for double wefted! I.e hair on each side of the weft.. Hair always looks so much thicker.

I'll be more than willing to try and help colour match you, I do it mostly online

P.S... I found a picture with micro wefts

I'm guessing you don't like hair that's different colours in general?

This! Sometimes people with different colour roots look fine. I generally prefer hair to be one colour. I avoid boys who have multicoloured hair. Who do they think they are - a Disney character?

Pauls Hair and Beauty! and thank you. This was 2013 though  haha

Maybe get a consultation with a hair extension specialist in your area, first though
