So, after all this time, it took the threat of a strike to get Jeremy Hunt agree to talks with no preconditions and do what the BMA have been calling for him to do for over a year now.

This government has no idea how to run the NHS, and this fiasco demonstrates it. The proposed contract would have put both patients and doctors at risk, and Hunt was willing to be so obstinate as to allow a strike to occur at the last minute.

Neither the British Medical Association nor junior doctors wanted a strike to go ahead. But, it had to for the long-term welfare of both the patients and the doctors, and it paid off in the end. Yet another demonstration of how the right to strike is integral to any democratic, civilised society. Hopefully, a safe and fair contract can now be negotiated.
This altercation seems to have benefited no one, the nhs is a mess
