Fat shaming on the Tube

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-34969424
Are any of you involved in this?

If so, you are sick. You have NO IDEA what is going on in a stranger's life.

You could utterly destroy someone.

I reckon people are just sick of the morbidly obese, especially the ones that try to make it into a positive thing. Hand out cards like that is pretty rediculous, probably best to just judge them silently if your going to.

What do these people hope to gain by hurting people and potentially ruining lives?!

It's just disgusting! :frown:

Tbf if I ever saw any of these hateful individuals on the tube I'd smother them in KFC gravy and let the fat person loose on them.

On a side note, it's very, very interesting how close this is to the feminist White Feather Campaign during WW1.

Well, they do say ignorance is bliss...
But in my opinion, those who make the conscious choice to be obese (or have sever cosmetic surgery, but that's another matter), well, without being censored by mods I think it's a shame to allow such an advanced body to degrade into something ugly and unhealthy.

Gluttony is a repulsive trait.

I don't agree with trying to make out that obesity is okay, but this is just horrible and downright nasty tbh, I hardly think being publicly insulted by a complete stranger is going to help anyone's confidence or help them to lose weight, what did the ****s who were handing out the cards think was going to be achieved by this?

It's for their own good. The fatties have to learn.
I openly talk about fat people to my friends when on the tube and in public generaly. I really don't care if there's someone fat near by. I won't however single them out and start saying 'Look at that fatty over there'.

I'm not even fat, but I find approaching individual strangers a particularly ignorant approach. General fitness / health campaigns, fine (within reason), but if you approach an individual you have absolutely no idea who they are or what they do.

My Mum is a bit overweight, but she's the most wonderful, lovely person in the world, and would do anything for anyone. She helps hundreds of kids get their GCSEs every year, and contributes an immense amount to society. There are many skinny people who contribute far less than her. She's very self-conscious, and the thought of her getting one of those cards just breaks my heart. :frown:

Lock em up and throw away the key. These fat shamers are worse than rapists and murderers

What happened to days where people just told others to **** off? Why does everything have to turn into some online campaign and victim status competition. Just tell them to EFF OFF and continue on with your life. Simple as that. If there words really do upset you, then lose some weight.

I don't approve of handing out cards. Those who were doing it were c*nts, and what they're doing is counter productive. And please don't take this the wrong way or anything, but your mum could quite easily be beneficial to society in the ways she is if she was of a healthy weight, and I'm sure it would do her confidence some good
People give a **** because the obese are doing nothing but use up NHS money and resources thanks to their entirely self inflicted weight problem and they're fed up.

Surely if fat people are allowed to argue that "there's nothing wrong with being fat" then the rest of us should be allowed to make the exact opposite argument and say that there is a lot wrong with being fat.

It's wrong to label that as feminist. Some feminists supported and participated in the campaign, but it wasn't started or led by the feminist movement, nor does it work towards their goals. This was another government recruitment technique, plain and simple.
Yeah, it is not like obesity is destroying anyone or anything. Society may say that person should accept being over weight and pack more pounds but I'm sure doctors would think differently. I'm not saying attack people for being fat but maybe encourage them to make better food choices? This is why the USA and the UK have tons of fat people and ranking High on obesity. We encourage obesity and call anyone out that admits it's unhealthy. I'm American.

Same with my mom... she used to be very slim (size 6), but then she became very ill, and her treatment and medication has made her gain weight. She was devastated, because she didn't feel like herself. Spoke with doctors and specialists and was told that, actually, the weight gain/bloatedness is often a lot worse, it's just a side effect, and there isn't really anything that can be done about it.

To imagine that some people would feel entitled to go up to her and insult her, when they know absolutely nothing about all the horrible things she has been through - so many tests, surgeries, the lot - is, indeed, heartbreaking.
If someone give this to me I'd eat them. That'd show them

... but srs, I'd probably cry because they don't know I know I'm fat and have already lost 10lb and aiming for more.
