Can a University offer you a place on a slightly different course to what you applied
I'm sure I applied for the standard Marine Biology degree at Plymouth university and I got my offer back today and it says I have a conditional offer for Marine Biology with foundation year? and that I'd be starting at the foundation year?

Yes they can, but it's worth contacting Plymouth for confirmation that this is what has happened, to ensure that it's intentional.
Yes, they can. Usually when they like your application but you are under-qualified for the course that you applied for.
