Official Accomodation Thread!
Welcome to the University of Sussex forum: where prospective and current students can discuss anything about the University of Sussex and life in Brighton.

Re: Official Accomodation Thread!I only got my confirmation yesterday too. I think it's just an acknowledgement we've made changes to it which they're aware of and to remind us that we can switch around accommodation choices until the 30th of June. They don't necessarily receive them either, they check them. It's like checking a web page, not receiving an application form, hence why we can change our options whenever. Don't fret.(Original post by InsaneFandom)
I got the same email today too, sent mine off last month.

Re: Official Accomodation Thread! It seems pretty random, the allocation of accommodation... I applied for East Slope as my first choice and although it was really popular I spoke to several people who'd put it as their last or penultimate option, while I didn't get a space and instead ended up in a two-person flatlet in Park Village, which I hadn't even known was an option.(Original post by loooochy)
How high are the chances of being allocated Northfield? I put it as my first choice and when I spoke to people when I looked around Sussex, a lot said that they'd gotten Northfield and it wasn't even a first choice... I just really want to live there! -
Re: Official Accomodation Thread! Can you still swap them even after you've sent it away?(Original post by InsaneFandom)
Just swapped mine around, Park houses is my first choice now, then Lewes court (standard), then Brighthelm etc. Mainly due to the cost.
I'll probably swap them round again a bajillion times yet

Re: Official Accomodation Thread!Northfield is really s****y, but there've been a few teething issues... a common complaint is that the layout is very antisocial, and you can't leave doors open on the way into your flat for more than 30 seconds or an alarm goes off... If I were you, I'd apply to Brighthelm - it's closer to the main conveniences (there's a bus stop right in front of it, Co-Op's a five minute walk, you're near the medical centre and lecture halls) over Northfield, as you get a washing machine which saves a lot of money, the layout seems much friendlier and you're less likely to experience the issues like losing heating, power, internet etc. for days at a time. I'm quite anti Northfield though so I may be biased(Original post by masa__tokyo)
Hi, I'm starting my MA from next semester at Sussex.
Could someone give me pros and cons of Northfield and Brighthelm?
I'd appreciate any other recommendations as well.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Official Accomodation Thread!
1) Northfield
2) Swanborough
3) Lewes Court Phase II
After reading the above about Northfield, I am beginning to worry a little. Can anyone tell me what they've heard about these three, how social they are etc? Also, as someone asked earlier, can we still change the order even after we have sent it off and received a confirmation email?
Thanks! -
Re: Official Accomodation Thread!do you know if you can choose which park house you want to be in, and if so how/when you choose? i've got it as my top choice too(Original post by InsaneFandom)

Re: Official Accomodation Thread!
Just accepted my accomodation offer

Kent House 032-1
Lucky I got back from holiday today, could've missed it!
I don't think you can, I didn't anyway. I think the actual rooms are all pretty much the same so it shouldn't really matter which one you get(Original post by Joshbrown)

Re: Official Accomodation Thread!
Have been allocated a room for 2012-2013!
Northfield, block 8, flat 79 - is anyone going to be a neighbour?
Northfield was 5th on my list of preferences so, yeah, but I understand it's difficult to place everyone and it seems decent (if expensive), just hoping my request for mature/quiet flat has been feasible. I guess it's the same for everyone, we all turn up not knowing how our accomodation will suit us or who we'll live with and see how it works out and sort out a swap if it doesn't work and in the end everyone's okay
