We'll set up a TELEX feed, maybe a phone-in service. Or fax. Might be a little different to what you're used to, but I'm sure we'll manage. :console:

A helpline might be needed as well (like when Take That split up)
Bad move...So now how do I delete this post

i am kind of being serious, as this is my only means of communication with ppl a similar age i would miss it if it went
fax sounds good tho although idk what a telelex is :colondollar:

Well we could always drop Bill a phone call I suppose, see if he'll make an exception for us when he hits the switch. :p: And TELEX is basically what came before fax machines (and after telegrams), it was used to send text messages between special landline phones. Should be easy enough to set up, so long as you can find enough 80 year old telephony equipment to go around…

I think Donald Trump is a real-world example of a troll.

He may be a troll and he certainly does a better job of satirising the right than any comedian.

But the frightening thing is his idiocy appeals to a lot of Anericans (and some TSR members), so he could end up one vote away from the most powerful job in the world. I hate to think of the damage he could do.
@Bill Gates trump needs your help!

No offense OP but can everyone please stop talking about Trump. He is a puppet (albiet a smart one). The less attention we give him, the more likely he is to ebb away......

I can't imagine discussion on a UK-based student forum will in any way influence the outcome of the US elections, or the US population's thoughts on a particular candidate.

he should be denied the carbon monoxide of publicity.... oh wait

Donald Trump is just a troll, nothing more :colonhash:

Sounds like a great idea, the internet needs policing and moderators. Long overdue.

Trump was also stripped from his Entrepreneurial awards by Scotland. This is what he had to say about it.

Let's not pretend we all know what he's actually talking about(shutting down ISIS affiliated sites and radicalization sites).
No need to get all wound up about him. He can't do **** with the laws that are in place unless he convinces Congress/the people who make U.S. legislature/laws to agree with him
I completely agree with him on this one.
I have never used the internet and I never will :judge:

how do I delete this post

Well one way would be to jump on board and delete the entire internet.
I agree, we should also talk to Ron Jeremy about closing up the Porn Industry, it's immoral :hand:

It is really not difficult to achieve. Get major search providers to delist controversial content, monitor visitors of known darknet sites and use AI algorithms to sift through the rest. The UK already does this, and most countries do it for commercial laws.

The internet is not some untameable beast. The few countries which allow anonymous site registering can be easily pressured - one by one they have been.

TOR nodes are run by Western governments to help destabilise noncompliant governments.

The Internet is simultaneously a great tool of learning and potential ideological insurrection and a great way to monitor the population and keep it in line. In the worst case martial law scenario, it can simply be shut down or converted into local intranets.

The reason so many people think Donald Trump is stupid is because they know very little of the world. Bill Gates is intimately connected to the security services and pretty much the entire computer world. Trump is just referring to him out of ease and, probably, because he knows him.

Donald Trump is not unintelligent or uneducated.

Rather, he's trying to get votes from a stratum of people in the US who are unintelligent and uneducated (because in a democracy, their vote counts just as much as anyone else's). So it's his job to say things in such a way that they will relate to him, and express opinions that he thinks they will agree with, thus being swayed towards voting for him.

The average redneck probably does think that Bill Gates has the power to "close the internet". If Donald Trump wants their vote, he's got to try and say things in a way that isn't going to confuse them or contradict their preconceived notions. It's one of the big flaws within a democratic system

I find it interesting that he uses the slogan "Make America Great Again", implying that it isn't already great. This trick is used by politicians in developed countries all over the world to appeal to people who are poor, uneducated, feeling hard done by and generally left behind in the rat race, because they're the ones most likely to think that things aren't going that great right now. But they're also the ones for whom politicians really have to dumb themselves down, the way Donald Trump is doing.

The USA has become a cuck country of PC wimps. When he says "Make America Great Again," he's not appealing to the "poor and uneducated" but people across society who believe their country should be strong, uncompromising in its values and with a sane and well-ordered society. I don't think Trump is man enough for the job, but that is the image he is trying to create for himself.

I often hear educated people make theories like yours, totally unaware of what rightists are actually thinking. What you've said is mostly incorrect. And he's saying "close that internet up" for everyone's benefit. Check my post later on in this thread to see what he would have to say to be more technologically precise. Not much of a soundbite.
