City/ course/ nightlife

do you guys know what the city is actually like? i'm thinking of applying but don't know what the place is liek as i haven't been able to make an open day! and any ideas on the night life also? sheffield is where i want to go but i need a back up in case i get rejected- i already have my grade! this uni sounds really good but i am also wanting to consider the area i will be living in as last year i didn't and applied for sunderland, then when i visited i didn't like the town/city at all and had to put uni on hold for another year :frown:

also, anyone doing psychology? that's what i'll be applying for, the modules look really interesting but want to know what students think of it?
it's hard trying to find specific info on here
Derby is a great city for nightlife, I would say. There's something for everyone, everything is rather cheap so affordable for students as well as the student nights twice a week which are great nights! The city itself is a good city for socialising, it has plenty of places to eat, drink and fun stuff to do.

The uni itself isn't that far from town. The halls are a ten minute walk from town, and its 15/20 minute walk from halls to uni but there's buses between each. Its a good accessible university.

Can't tell you much about the course as I never studied in that area, but the support around uni such as the union, student services and all that are great regardless.

Hope this helps. Good luck with your application!

At Derby, from Sheffield - the nightlife is incomparable really. Sheffield has so SO many places to go out and is a large city whereas Derby has a handful. It is quite a homely place though - go to a open day and have a look around.

If your interested in the place then just go on any day if you can't make an open day. Would still be useful to go and have a look at the area and what kind of things there are nearby I would think.

However, you can book a personal visit for a day that your available. All the information is on there website http://www.derby.ac.uk/study/opendays/personal-visits/
