Professional Skills Tests - Books

Hello!

I've been accepted into my PGCE course and need to do my Professional Skills tests. I'm fairly good and confident with maths and English but want to do some more practise.

I've been on e websites but have been told to get a book. So can anyone recommend a good professional skills test book as I've heard there are a few.

Taaa!
I have this one (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Professional-Skills-Initial-Teacher-Training/dp/0749470216/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1450787814&sr=8-5&keywords=itt+book)

It explains both numeracy and literacy and has lots of practice questions in it. There's also the 8 practice tests on the .gov website which are pretty good (and they talk you through the answers if you get stuck).
I've also found some videos on Youtube where people will talk you through the tests as they do them. Mental Arithmetic catches people out because the time they give for each question isn't long and there's a few maths things that you're just expected to know eg; 1/8 is 12.5 or 5 miles = 8km.
I am in the same boat as you are. I've been accepted too and I'm in the process of preparing for skills test. At this moment, I'm just going over practice questions online and YouTube tutorials.
Good luck with your tests
The professional skills tests (skills tests) for prospective teachers assess the core skills that teachers need to fulfil their professional role in schools, rather than the subject knowledge needed for teaching. This is to ensure all teachers are competent in numeracy and literacy, regardless of their specialism.
