Do bars need ID for non-alcoholic drinks?

So I'm living alone in Birmingham and I get bored some nights and want to go out. The problem is, it's still two months away from my 18th, so I don't have ID. I know I won't get into any clubs, but would I be able to at least buy non-alcoholic drinks from a bar?
No, the doorman can't take the risk that you won't buy alcohol. Think about how many people lie to them on a daily basis just to get in.

Think 25 is on most alcohol sales and club entry unfortunately.
Some pubs should let you in without ID before a certain time, try Wetherspoons or, if you live anywhere near Selly Oak, try The Soak. Student area, there's so little chance you'll get ID'd just to walk into The Soak/another Selly pub. I've never been ID'd :smile:
