A2 Edexcel Biology -6BIO4 (exam on 16th June 2016) and 6BIO5 (exam on 23rd June 2016)

I haven't seen a thread for this year's A2 Edexcel Biology and so here it is. If there is one, please direct me to it.

Here is a link to the last year's thread which has useful notes in the very first post

I was stuck on a question: Why does riogor mortis occur?

Thanks

Anyone know how to work out the oxygen absorption from the distance moved by the liquid in the respirometer?

Hey, there is a more active thread for this here http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=3895665&page=10&p=64532047#post64532047

But in order to work out the oxygen absorption you would have to:
distance moved by the liquid x cross sectional area of the capillary tube

Muscles initially relaxed. Once oxygen supply depleted respiration ceases so ATP production stops. Lack of ATP results in cross-links between muscle contractile proteins becoming fixed. Muscles become stiff (rigor mortis) so limbs remain fixed in position. Most bodies have complete rigor mortis 6 9 hrs after death

It's the same thing, Salters Nuffield is just a contextual way of learning the same specification (using real life examples instead of concepts).
