How do you answer the first (9mark) question in unit 3/ beliefs in society paper - ( it asks for 3 points) identify and briefly explain the points- do you write it as a bullet point and explain the point (like we did for families and households) or is it like a mini essay question?
I'm literally so stuck in revising for these exams. How is everyone revising?! Particularly for SCLY3 beliefs in society.. I don't know where to start.
I'm a self-taught student so i don't have a lot of the resources or knowledge that everyone seems to have so any help would be much appreciated!
Self taught too. I'm just going through the each section of the Ken Browne A2 Sociology book and making mind maps HOPING that I'll be able to retain all the info....
Guys how would u structure an essay for this question?
"Assess the view that the concept of the self-fulfilling prophecy does not provide us with a satisfactory understanding of the nature of deviance." (21)
(It's in the labeling theory section of the book)
I don't know how to approach this question....thanks!

Hey! For the 9 marker you have to state three reasons for what ever the question is asking you for. For each reason you make a statement (one sentence) and then you follow it up with an explanation (2/3 sentences/ you can include examples that illustrate the point that you made or any relevant concepts but don't go off including sociologists names/theories you have to keep it brief.
E.g: Why do women have a higher participation in religion (9marks)
-Women have a higher participation in religion because of primary socialisation. This is because.... (Explanation)
Repeat this two more times - my teacher told me that examiners will love you if you do it this way because it makes their lives easier when marking

Is that part of crime and deviance with methods and theory?

Does anyone have any exam predictions as to what topics/Q's that might come up this year?
I am finding it so hard to revise for sociology this year. Furthermore my teacher changed and its been all over the place. I am not feeling prepared AT ALL this year.
AS Grade: B A2 Personal Target Grade: A Topics studying*: Beliefs in Society + Crime and Deviance
These are my predictions for the beliefs in society paper:
- Secularisation (what it is etc) - Evaluation of whether religion is a force for change or a constructive force (I've had a strong gut feeling about this one for a while now) - Religious Organisations - There may also be a chance of Science and Ideology - low chance that it will come up as a long answer question but since its the last paper they may wanna throw us off, plus it could come up as a shorter question so its better to revise it a bit and get those ez marks
Predictions: SCLY3: the 9 & 18m are quite hard to predict 33m: either, theories of religion, secularisation or ideology and science SCLY4: 21m: either labelling, gender or suicide unsure for the methods q 33m(theories) either globalisation or social policy

For the 33m on theories what do you mean by globalisation?
What would you say in a theories & method question if it asked about social action theories... Heard this is a likely question
Interactionism, labelling theory, phenomenology and ethnomethodilogy. I don't think this will come up though as this was supposed to be the question last year but the papers got stolen so they had to do a new paper

If u was to answer that i would probabaly talk about labeling theory and their explabation for crime thne caluate with everything else. Its a simple enoight question just worded horrificlly. Thanks for asking...getting something like that in the exam and never seeing it before would have thrown me alittle
