Do you listen to music when you revise?

I'm sat writing an essay and listening to Hood Pope by A$AP Ferg. Not what you would have expected, eh?

haha i thought i was the only one who called him that

haha afraid not :five:
I don't if I'm purposely trying to take info in. I sing along wayyyy to easily.
But if I'm doing some revision-related non-exam questions, or marking things, then I do put on background music, generally an album from my CD collection that I am less likely to get involved in
As for exam questions depends on how I feel. If it's a timed attempt then no, but if not then the CD goes back on.
This tends to really get me motivated!

It's really distracting for me.
One minute I'm proving trig identities, the next, an afrobeat song comes on and I'm like

Catfish and the Bottlemen are awesome  I once met their drummer on a ferry back from france. Cool guy

I'm actually so jealous - I love them to pieces!! :h:

I never meet anyone cool on the ferry/the chunnel...sometimes speak to other families, nobody exciting

Who else do you listen to??
There's enough evidence to suggest that it helps with concentration - I can't work without it.

I can't listen to anything with lyrics whilst studying. It has to be classical stuff. I seem to learn better with piano based music - my fave at the moment is Chopin but I do love a bit of Mozart now and again.

Tried 'chillstep'?
This is relaxing on sorts of levels, I revise to this

Roses from the South by Strauss II.

Is that like dubstep on relaxants?

Pretty much, and much more melodic - discovered the genre while looking for music for work. I find the mixes very effective for getting in the 'zone'.

This is one of the good ones.

I used to listen to classical and jazz.

Then I realised how much I enjoyed the genres and my toe-tapping started distracting me too much :frown:

I have the exact same problem with classical music, but I try to solve it by listening to the same pieces repeatedly when not revising (so I can tap as much as I like) and then listen to completely unfamiliar compositions by the same composers or unfamiliar renditions of the same pieces while I revise - after all it's substantially more difficult to dance along to something you don't know.

If all else fails, I listen to 30 minutes of Grieg's Piano Concerto because I only recognise the first few minutes and everything else is mostly unfamiliar territory - the best of both worlds
Same as other people. Can only listen to Instrumental music. My personal favourites are:

Hans Zimmer - Inception soundtrack
Hans Zimmer - Interstellar soundtrack
Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception soundtrack (game)
Avatar soundtrack
Destiny soundtrack (game)
Transformers Arrival to earth - Steve Jablonsky
Transformers It's our fight - Steve Jablonsky
Thomas Newman - Any other name from the film American Beauty (SO RELAXING!!!)
