UK top baby name is Muhammad

For the first time at BabyCentre UK, the name Muhammad has topped the list, when alternate spellings such as Mohammed are included.

And here is where all the love begins
Looks like a return to a lot of traditional names in there, especially in the girls list: Isabella, Jessica, Lily, Grace, Evie, Scarlette, Isabel.

Quite a few of those on the boys name list are traditional Hebrew names, I wonder if these are getting popular outside Jewish communities.
Same thing every year, who cares.

Well........... lol. Dunno what to say.

Actually, I do know what to say.

There are a lot more common and mysterious/magical names from the good old white community. However, from the muslim community, the names pretty much stay the same and have the same concept. I know for a fact that people name their kid Muhammad but have a second name, for example Abdul, and then are called by the second name. This is because as long as the first name is Muhammad of a boy, they will go to heaven as it is the same name as their prophet.

So, I don't think there are that many people who are referred to as Muhammad but will probably have double barrelled name and then be called by the second barrel.

Another point is that in the muslim community, the names are pretty much all the same, Hamza, Muhammad, Abdul, Amir, Roman, Aaqib etc., they don't really introduce new names.

That's because Muslim families call their children Mohammed very frequently. There is much less diversity of naming amongst Muslim families than there is amongst non Muslim families.

This is the important bit. Muslim guys are often given the first name Muhammad almost as a title, then are referred to by their second name so you don't have a vast excess of people all using the same name.
