haha, we were doing this today in computing. communications media, in the case of a LAN, represents the cable, or not, connecting the computers. so, you can have a network using UTP (unshielded twisted cable - the most common media), coaxial cable, optical fibres, or low powered radio signals (wireless)

in the case of a star network you could use wireless, attached to the server, to transfer data to and from the other computers.
in the ring network you can use an ad-hoc wireless network where each pc connects to the next one in line.
I can't see wireless working for bus networks, as they come off one single main cable.
Wiring wise, these are all pretty straightforward. ring each pc connects to the next via a cable, star each connects to the server via a cable, and bus each connects to the main backbone line via cable.
