Its a possibility, I didn't say it was likely...

Wow, you were actually serious! I hope you take the opportunity to consider how you've acquired this level of brainwashing that you are incapable of processing information that clashes with sacred beliefs. Look at the discrepancies in rape in Sweden or Norway. This isn't an isolated problem. Look up crime rates in Sweden or Norway, or attitude surveys which point to major integration issues.

Fair enough, I hadn't seen those media reports. Germany needs to get building refugee camps.

No. They need to stop welcoming all these benefit scroungers and deport those they catch roaming in the streets.

I'm getting there, I'm reading the article first, give me time

Agreed, but 'making it up to promote Islamophobia'? Are you for real?

It was 1000 in Cologne, not just Germany. I thought you read the article?
Just read the untranslated article of this.. The Germans are furious. Would not be surprised at all if hate crimes against these migrants shot up. In some parts of Germany the neo Nazi groups are getting more and more support after the migrant crisis.

I'm reading now, but don't act like I'm stupid, I do know geography...

As a sample throughout the country it's a tiny number. Never did I dispute it's a lot of people for one city. And (not that this makes it better) it was 'dozens' of offences - the article says that ~90 women were affected (in Köln sind bislang 90 Anzeigen von betroffenen Frauen eingegangen), with ~1/4 sexual offences. Doesn't make it any better, but the implication I'd gained from this thread before reading the article that the number of crimes roughly = number of perpetrators. Weird. I'll say it again, though, before someone decides to take that comment out of context and make me out to be some evil witch - that fact doesn't make it any better.

(It appears that some of the offences were things like pickpocketing too, which - while still obviously bad - is pretty common in big gatherings in big cities)

The PEGIDA is only going to get bigger and stronger. Merkel will be forced out and a right wing Chancellor will take her place.

Which is why I'm glad I went to Dresden (home of Pegida) in October...
These rules would be pretty advisable at Karneval generally tbh (again, not excusing this behaviour at all...)

In other words, the Germans are responding like normal people everywhere else in the world would. But instead they'll be demonised as Nazis for even thinking that their culture and society might be worth preserving. The Dalai Lama has similar concerns about Tibetan culture being demographically marginalised by Han Chinese - it's a normal concern for people to have. They should be able to preserve their culture.

Pew Global actually show that the majority in virtually every country surveyed have these concerns.

Over a million immigrants to Germany this year, so 1000 of them is a tiny minority (0.1%)

How many of the million migrants are children or women? How many could be described as in their mid twenties and male? and how many of those are in Cologne? it narrows it down quite a lot don't you think? 0.1% is a stupid percentage to use.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if that happened. And tbh I don't blame the Germans for supporting PEGIDA. They must be fed up of everything.
Pretty disgusting.

The "Rules of Conduct" should be applied to the "refugees".

I'd be ashamed if my country turned to a racist party tbh. I'm hoping support for PEGIDA won't rise too much in Berlin or in the west where my friend is, as that's where I'm spending the most time (between here and Nordwest-Rheinfalen), being a bit brown that could be interesting.

If I was German, I'd join them too.

That's the really annoying part. Germans in general are very tolerant to people regardless of where they come from. And they're fairly liberal. But I don't blame them for going against these migrants coming in because it's interfering with their culture! What's it going to be next? German women can't leave the house without a veil on and they must be escorted by a male?

Berlin is slightly risky.. But yeah being brown is more risky..

I'd be the first brown person to join PEGIDA.

Agree, but idk if it's just me but they seem pretty common sense-y for big gatherings of people? Because they apply specifically to Karneval, which is huge in Cologne - stuff like staying with a group kinda makes sense in big gatherings. But I totally agree that it should be perpetrators, not victims, that are targeted in a response to crime outbreaks
