Graphic Products & Graphic Design?

At the moment I am in year 12 studying graphic products, however I want to study a graphic design course at university.
Will I be able to do the uni course because graphic product focuses more on making?
Will I need to do another course before?

You could always do a foundation year somewhere like Leeds College of Art if you are unsure. My friend does product/graphic design at uni and they make products every 2 weeks, so yes it does seem to focus a lot on making but I am sure it varies with each uni
