Harvard was founded 540 years after Oxford

This just reminded me of one of my favourite ever interactions.

A and B are two American tourists.
A: Isn't the architecture here beautiful? (referring to an Oxford college)
B: It sure is! Do you think it's pre-war?
C (whilst chuckling): Actually, it's pre-America
The main problem with American universities is that they focus too much on breadth over depth, forcing you to take modules outside what you're 'majoring' in.

That's not a reason to choose one, given that Harvard has since build up a world class reputation.

This is like being the Liverpool fan of the university world, some stuff happened before you were born and nobody really cares, but it makes you feel better than Man City/Man United/Chelsea fans.

Oxford for the undergraduate stuff. Harvard for graduate stuff.

Obviously factor in the costs as well, but in terms of tuition and contacts; Oxford.

You are entitled to your opinion.

Agreed - arguably, it's more like being a Notts County fan, although I guess that would probably correspond to Bologna University. Oxford would then be Stoke City (yay!), depending on when you date its foundation.
