TSR VIP club: getting answers to unanswered threads

Want to be part of the TSR VIP team? We add more members every month.

Get stuck in to some unanswered threads to get yourself noticed and earn your chance to join this exclusive club. Read on for more info...

Could you be a TSR VIP?
Every day, hundreds of new questions are added to TSR, most of which develop into bigger discussions.

But there are always a few that get missed and don’t get a reply.

The TSR Very Important Poster (VIP) club is an invite-only team for people who regularly respond to those unanswered threads.

As well as getting a 'Very Important Poster' user title on their profile, members of this team will be automatically entered into an exclusive competition.

Every week, contributing TSR VIP team members go into a draw to win a £25 Amazon voucher. The more threads they've answered, the more draw tickets they get.

Winners can choose to donate their prize to a charity of their choice, should they prefer.

Sound like a club you'd like to join? Everyone has the chance to be a part of this. Every month we will review the member list and add people who've been particularly helpful.

So, if you'd like an invite, you just need to look for unanswered threads that you can help with.

Below is a series of quick links to unanswered threads from around the site - just click through to get started.

Posting tips for TSR VIP team members

The TSR VIP team exists to make The Student Room a more helpful and useful place for its members.

Any replies made to unanswered threads should leave the OP feeling better informed - the aim is quality, not quantity!

Below is some advice, provided by members of the VIP team, on how best to reply to unanswered threads.

** Always quote the OP. They may not know about how to use the 'watch thread' function, so a quote can alert them to your reply.

** Provide links to other useful areas of the site. For instance, when replying to posts about university, give a link to the relevant uni/course forum, along with Connect. Encourage them to post in stickied chat threads there if nobody responds.

** Focus on sections where you can definitely help. Use the links above to focus on forums where you know your stuff.

** Give the OP some decent detail in your reply. That doesn't have to mean an essay. A couple of lines is often enough - but a couple of words really isn't.

FAQ

Just look for any unanswered threads where you can add a helpful answer. The keyword here is quality, not just quantity.

At the end of every month, we'll invite people who have made lots of helpful replies to join the team.

We'll also be looking for people with a particular knowledge of specific topics. If you're great at study help questions on a certain subject, for instance, that could make you more likely to be invited.

As per the previous unanswered thread competitions that TSR have run, I am assuming that the Welcome Lounge sub-forum is excluded from this!
