NHS Clinical Scientist - tips from past applicants

Hi everyone,This is my first post on the Student Room and I would like to ask about the NHS STP programme.I am a second year Biomedical Sciences student, with major in cell and developmental biology so I am very interested in getting into reproductive science and cytopathology. I know some people in the forum got into the programme in these two fields. It would be nice if I could get some handful tips from you to prepare for my application next year.

I understand it is highly competitive and have been working hard to maximise my chance. I spent my last summer volunteering in a local orphanage in Tanzania for three weeks. I also have rich experience on working with children such as tutoring. Currently, I am applying for an internship in one of the fertility research laboratories. Hopefully, I will also start volunteering in children ward soon.What other work experience could you kindly suggest?
