Kanye West is rumoured to be making a David Bowie tribute album - let's stop this!

I think this is an utter travesty, if it is true. David Bowie and Kanye West are polar ****ing opposites in terms of artistry, personality, even musical talent, and to have both of them even uttered in the same sentence is extremely painful to me.

If someone wants to make a tribute to someone they can.

I like Kanye and think one of his strengths are his abilities to produce music with strong influences and tributes to other artists/songs. We lose nothing by letting him do whatever he wants, and who knows, perhaps we'll get some good music out of it. This musical fascism is what needs to stop, not Kanye. Who are you to tell him he can't produce music in homage to someone he felt strongly towards?

I am afraid it is true and there is nothing anyone can do about it ...

you just don't get it man, it's PHYSICALLY PAINFUL FOR HIM
I'm a moderately large Bowie fan and not any kind of Kanye fan, but can we just not be dicks about this?

I really don't see the problem.
Kanye is a polar opposite of Bowie in talent? Jesus dude Bowie isn't that bad.

As a Kanye fan, I highly doubt this rumour is substantiated, Kanye has been working on his album Swish for over a year now, constantly pushing back the release date so I highly doubt with the amount of work he is putting in that, that he'd just stop and start working on a David Bowie album out of the blue. I am pretty sure what he means by carry on his work is in the form of his own music unrelated from Bowie, I assume he just means he is 'dedicating it to Bowie' as in a passing statement not a full tribute. That is if he actually said that at all, it seems odd that on all the Kanye fan sites I go on I don't see news of this but I see it on TSR.

Kanye is immensely talented, you may dislike his music but to say he is not talented is a flat out lie. Not only music but fashion as well, Kanye is a creative powerhouse.

Sorry for upsetting the proverbial TSR apple cart. I'll let all of you go back to watching Keeping up with the Kardashians, since you clearly have no idea what truly talented music is.

I have never set my eyes on that show, you clearly have no idea how to make a logical point seeing as you believe somebodies taste in music will somehow determine the television programs they watch.

Just remember, you are the fool here. Even those who dislike Kanye's music can see that a petition to stop Kanye from making music is both ridiculous and a huge breach on his personal freedoms. Who would even enforce this petition? How many people would be required to sign it for it to be considered a success, the petition is just an exercise in masturbation for the Kanye-haters.

I'm someone who takes music pretty seriously as part of my life, think Blackstar is AOTY so far, and listen to more extreme metal than anything else, but it's silly to argue that Kanye West isn't an incredibly significant 21st century artist. Bowie is (was :frown: ) fantastic. West makes good music. I think this could be spectacular.

Hahaha, go on then. Aside from Bowie who else constitutes as a "proper" musician?
