Work Experience - Pharmacy

Hi,
I was just wondering how much work experience is required for Pharmacy and where suitable places would be to do the work experience?
Also, would work experience with family be acceptable?

Hi,

I am a first year International Management student at the University of Bath. On the Pharmacy page there is a relatively detailed outline of the experience that is required to study at the University of Bath. I don't see any problem in having work experience with the family, it all develops your understanding of the role of a pharmacist regardless. The web page suggests volunteering also, so if you are struggling to find paid work maybe volunteering would be easier. I know a few of my friends from home managed to get a part-time job at the local pharmacy, it might be worth dropping in and asking!

I would however say that the more experience you can get the better, just make sure that it doesn't affect your academic performance.

Hi, I'm a 4th year pharmacy student at Bath :smile:

I had 2 weeks work experience in a hospital pharmacy before I applied and that was fine. A lot of other people either worked in a pharmacy part time or had a few days work experience in a community pharmacy. Any experience if good as long as you can talk about it. Even if you only had one day experience if you can talk about what you learnt and what interests you that's fine. If you have no experience then this shouldn't be a problem as long as you have done your research on the profession and are passionate about it :smile:
